As of yesterday, I have officially sworn into the U.S. Army. This is great. I couldn't be more proud of myself. A quick breakdown of the experience at MEPS. After being picked up from my local recruiters office and driven to the state capitol I took the the ASVAB and TAPAS. I thought I did terribly when I got done but I'll bring that back up in a minute. When that was out of the way me of some other guys were driven up to a four (or five star. It changes every year really) star hotel were they gave us dinner. By 10:00p.m. it was lights out for us. Wake up call came in by 4:45a.m. and we had breakfast. The whole next day medical examinations, paperwork, and a physical (just saying, you will be in a big room full of over a dozen guys in their underwear and told to do exercises. Still worth it and you get a few laughs). All that out out of the way I went to my counselor for my MOS (military occupational specialty). It was there I found out I scored an 88 out of 99 on the ASVAB. That was a fun treat. When they asked me about the job I wanted I told them I was working on getting a degree as a nurse in college. With that I was given a place for 68 Whiskey. With my job taken care of, I finally swore myself in as an army reserve and was driven home. All in all, the experience was great. I should be heading off for basics late May and should be gone for about half a year. Still, a part of me is going to be sad because I wont be able to be here for a while and I wont be able to see my girlfriend while I'm gone. I'm gonna try as best I can to keep in touch. In the meantime, I'm gonna try enjoy it as much as I can. Wish me luck guys.
